What does the souls who wants to give great glory to God do when all he seems to do falls silent?
The soul desires with all his being to do wondrous things for God. He wants simply and humbly to draw many souls to God through his works. But, the more the soul tries, the more his works seem to do little or nothing for God’s Kingdom.
This soul must humbly aspire to this state, surrendering more fully to God his works. What if God wants these great gestures to fall upon deaf ears? What if God chooses a ‘wondrous’ work of the soul to be seen by only one soul? Even more, what if God chooses this action of the soul to be only for the soul’s view?
The soul must surrender and abandon even his own pure desires to glorify God to God’s Divine Will.
It is often in the pure desire of a soul in which God draws this soul more closely into His intimate embrace. God doesn’t desire great works but works humbly given and outcomes accepted. St. Faustina writes of the intent of the often being more to God than the action or outcome.
We need to follow the words of my Patroness Saint, Faustina and Therese, to be simply joyful to be a small flower in the field.
“At the feet of Jesus, I will seek light, comfort and strength. I will show my gratitude unceasingly to God for His great mercy towards me, never forgetting the favors He has bestowed on me, especially the grace of a vocation. I will hide myself among the sisters like a little violet among lilies. I want to blossom for my Lord and Maker, to forget about myself, to empty myself totally for the sake of immortal souls-this is my delight.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 224
It is for God to do the work and make works fruitful. It is the soul’s duty to just work and trust in God.
The abandoned soul gives up all rights of the outcome and works to God. The soul is left with only one desire – to please God and listen to His words.
The soul must work as if am depends upon him but to pray knowing all depends upon God. Remember, soul, God does not give desires for great work or sanctity that He won’t fulfill.
The soul realizes God does not give Himself to us due to our actions. Let the soul peacefully fulfill the actions without aspiring to the greater outcome. The soul will a saint by God’s grace and providence.
