“Write: I am Thrice Holy, and I detest the smallest sin. I cannot love a soul which is stained with sin; but when it repents, there is no limit to My generosity toward it. My mercy embraces and justifies it. With My mercy, I pursue sinners along all their paths, and My Heart rejoices when they return to Me. I forget the bitterness with which they fed My Heart and rejoice at their return” – Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1728
Think of this. Jesus, God detests sin. Every sin, not just the mortals ones that break the Commandments – murder, adultery etc. God abhors even the little sin – grumbling at traffic, flipping off the driver who cut you off, not controlling your gaze and more.
The smallest, venial sin is still horrible in God’s sight.
Every soul is stained by sin, Proverbs 24:16 says, “For a righteous man falls seven times”. So, are we all condemned if even the just man falls into sin and God detests even the smallest sin?
Keep reading Proverbs 24:16 and Jesus’ words above to St. Faustina.
Both support the same path
“…and rises again” – Proverbs 24:16
“but when it repents, there is no limit to My generosity toward it. My mercy embraces and justifies it” – # 1728
Sin happens and will continue through our lives. But, sin doesn’t have the last word if the soul doesn’t give it that last word.
“but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” – Romans 5:20
Take back that last word from the enemy. As he condemns you by your failures, turn instantly back to Jesus with a contrite heart and “last word” – MERCY!
Sin isn’t the end. Sin can be the catalyst for the soul to turn back to God and His Divine Mercy. In this, He gives the soul abounding grace to strengthen his to sin no more. This abounding grace lifts the soul into the arms of the Father. This contrite repentance give Jesus reason to rejoice.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you from sin to His side that you may be lifted as a saint among saints. If you find yourself falling into the same critical sins or repeating the same ‘small’ sins – stop, ask for forgiveness, rise again and move on. Know that you are a dearly beloved child of God, Who forgets and rejoices in your return.
