“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35
“Amen, Amen, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life.” – John 6:47-48
“ I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” – John 6:51
“Take and eat; this is my body.” – Matthew 6:36
“Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord” – 1 Corinthians 11:27
The Gospels, especially John 6, the Last Supper and Paul’s letters bear out the magnitude of the Bread of Life. We as Catholics have a great gift beyond understanding – we know this Eucharist to be the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, fully all of Jesus Himself contained in the transubstatiated Bread and Wine. When we kneel before this Eucharist, we bow before Christ Himself. When we consume, gnaw upon, this bread and drink this wine, we are bringing the Body and Blood of Christ fully within us to transform us into Himself.
Take this as fact and believe, brothers and sisters.
