Come Holy Spirit – Strengthen My Word

Spread the love

Let your yes be yes and your no be no” – Matthew 5:37

Your word is your contract. It means you can be counted upon to tell the truth and to do what is promised,

Once a man breaks his word, he can never really be trusted again. His words and promises will always then carry a wonder of doubt to their veracity.

“Every man deserves a second chance, but keep a strong eye on him” – John Wayne

The world needs men of their word right now. In a world where one can’t trust what the headline news is telling you, and a place where a politician can be shown a video of themselves saying something yet still deny they ever said it – we need trustworthy people who say what they mean and do what they promise.

If you’ve broken your word or a promise, do everything you can, right now, to go back and make it right.

Making things right is so important that Jesus says to do this even before coming to worship God – “So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister,[j] and then come and offer your gift.” – Matthew 5:23-24

“For in him every one of God’s promises is a “Yes.” For this reason it is through him that we say the “Amen,” to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:20. God is trustworthy and a ‘Man’ of His word.

All Scripture attests to the fact that words are powerful.

To be a man of your word, one must first be a man of The Word.

Jesus stood up to Satan by the power of His word. Satan will twist Scripture to a to fit his lies. Jesus destroyed him by being the man of the word.

Be honest and accurate with your words. Don’t tolerate misuse or twisting of words. The world, politicians, liberals and media all twist things to fit their father’s lies. They say abortion is choice, not calling it the murder that it is. Even masculinity is toxic in their words.

Pilate sarcastically asked “what’s is truth” (John 18:38). Truth stood before him as a person. He failed to see that fact and had Jesus crucified.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6

Speak the truth. Keep your word. Be a person of your word. In this strive to be like God.

“He was the kind if you got in trouble you didn’t look to see if he was still with you – you knees damned well he was” – Louis L’Armour
