“Do not examine with curiosity the roads down which I lead you” – Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1760

As we travel through life, the paths on our Road of Faith are many. We are naturally curious about what is coming around the next corner. It’s in our nature to want to prepare – a little OCD in each of us bubbles out in these moments. Often our Road of Faith leads us over rough terrain down winding paths with many crossroads to choose.

How do we proceed then?

“We walk by faith, not by sight” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is “one foot on the ground one foot in the air, and a queasy feeling in the stomach” – Mother Angelica of EWTN

God wants us to look up to His eyes, reach our hand into His with total trust. He wants us to move ahead one step at a time, unworried of what lies ahead, totally trusting the Father will keep us safe.

Asking a lot of questions – primarily ‘why?’, leads the soul to fear the dark tunnel or turn ahead. The unknown slowly becomes its own controlling demon in our hearts. Our eyes drop from God’s straining to see what’s coming. As we lean forward to see around the bend, our hands releases from the Father’s. Soon, we find ourselves walking alone, trying to control and even manipulate and dominate what the Road ahead holds for us.

The soul, trusting fully in God, can proclaim boldly, “even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me.” – Psalm 23:4

So, let’s stop asking God ‘why?’ or to give us knowledge of what lies ahead. Throw your hand up, knowing in full trust that God will grasp it. Take a step forward, “one foot on the ground, the other in the air”, move forward.

Not sure you have ‘enough’ faith? Ask God to increase this grace of faith.

“Increase our faith!” – Luke 17:5

And trust!

Trust God. Don’t ask questions about what lies ahead on the Road of Faith. Don’t fret of the tunnels or turns ahead. Stop stressing about the potholes life may bring. Trust God to lead you through the ‘dark valley of death’, and even to the gates of Hell themself. Declare through the ‘queasy stomach”, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want….for you are with me; your rod and your staff – they comfort me” – Psalm 23:1,4

Put one foot in front of the other, God’s comforting and guiding hand in yours, and walk boldly along the Road of Faith, homeward to God’s Kingdom.
