Come Holy Spirit – Drive

Spread the love

“But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.“ – Matthew 6:33

Well, you know, when I was growing up, I most of the time, I rode in the back seat of the car. My dad usually drove the car. Growing up, seriously, I I don’t ever remember riding in the back of my dad’s car and being anxious, not once. I didn’t have any reason to be anxious. My dad was driving. I was occupied with irritating my sisters.

I took an Uber once to the airport. Have you used that that service? I found myself in the back seat and becoming anxious. The driver was speeding, weaving in and out of lanes, and playing extremely loud music. I asked him, I reached up. I said, I asked him, “could you turn the music down and slow the car down? You’re making me nervous.”

It was on that day that I realized the truth, and that is driving in the back seat can cause anxiety, and who is driving makes a difference.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” – Psalm 23:1

Everything in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus lives, and this reading today is no different. He had no retirement account, no permanent home, no earthly security, no backup plan, yet he was never anxious. Why?

Because He trusted the Father completely. Throughout your day, do this. Just keep praying, “Jesus, I trust in you, even in the back seat.”

“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.” – John 10:27
