Welcome New Year – A little yes

Spread the love

“Welcome to you, New Year…. So today I submit myself completely and with loving consent to Your holy will, O Lord, and to Your most wise decrees, which are always full of clemency and mercy for me, though at times I can neither understand nor fathom them. O my Master, I surrender myself completely to You, who are the rudder of my soul; steer it Yourself according to Your divine wishes. I enclose myself in Your most compassionate Heart, which is a sea of unfathomable mercy. ” Divine Mercy in my soul #1449-1450

Give today and this new decade to God as He continues to teach us to live the words on the Divine Mercy Image – “JESUS I TRUST IN YOU”.

Trust and Surrender come as easily as a simple yes. In my faith journey, if I had stopped to think about or seen the big picture, so many choices would have seemed impossible. As silly as it may seem, just getting out of that seat at my first CMF Gathering would have been impossible if I had known that God’s plan was to have me lead an Emmaus retreat or to be a ministry head. I was too introverted and lacked confidence. So, He didn’t ask me that day to jump up and start a blog to share my personal faith journey, or lead the men’s Emmaus from St. Thomas More to St. Benedict the Abbot – no, He made it easier, just get up and walk to the stage and say hi to the man from St. Louise who had just talked about the Saturday CMF. That was hard enough for an introvert. But, from that ‘little’ yes, God allowed me to move to the next yes and the next. What would have been impossible, things I am FAR from qualified to do, God makes simple. And in these yes’s, He teaches me surrender and trust. Trust because I know He has NEVER let me down, nor asked me to do something that He wasn’t providing the wisdom, skill and power to accomplish. Surrender….simply put, it is His Will not mine.

I believe it is wrong when people say that God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. I think if He gave us only what we think we can handle, we would never grow. The real truth is that God doesn’t give us any more than we can handle without Him so that we can learn to trust and rely upon Him.

So, when it feels like God is asking for ‘more than you can do’. Don’t say “God, I can’t do this.” Always say “God, I can’t do this without You. So let’s go.” Never hesitate to say yes to God.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
