Through Locked Doors

Spread the love

Today we read the Gospel telling of St. Thomas’ great faith acclamation – “My Lord and My God!”, and see Jesus appear behind locked doors for the second time to stand in the midst of the disciples. Jesus offers His peace and gives them the refreshing flow of Divine Mercy through the breath of the Holy Spirit. Jesus then gives the first Bishops the ability to share that Mercy by forgiving sin.

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday! Today is the day into which Jesus comes into our locked rooms, the hearts we’ve locked in concrete and hardness. The doors in which we hide our worst sins. Doors held shut by demons long possessed of the deed to the space we gave them years ago. Today is the day Jesus appears in that dark scary place even we fear to go or let be seen. He appears and there is a flash of immense light in this heavy darkness. His Divine Mercy so bright the demons and our sin flee and crumble.

The demons today tremble. Their kingdom shudders and collapses, in the world and in our heart. The demons try to hold the door locked and secure but Jesus walks right through. In this moment today, His free super-abundant ever-flowing Divine Mercy is breathed into our soul and the darkest reaches of our heart and mind – giving peace finally to all.

No, no fear. The locks held in place for decades and grimy with sin can’t hold tight. If we but reach for the handle and even if we don’t, because jesus IS THE Door.

His Divine Mercy is open fully every moment to souls, especially free flowing today from the Ocean of Mercy.

Cast all sin, guilt and burden upon Jesus. He will take it and give back freedom of peace only Divine Mercy can bring. Cast out the demons now. They can’t hold those doors any longer! These locked doors are burst apart, blown away to splinters today.

Turn to Divine Mercy now! Today is a very good day for mercy.
