This is a great song and lyrics upon which to meditate when tough times fall upon a soul.
It is so easy to give praise to God when you’re winning. When things are going well and you’re feeling awesome, praises to God come easily.
But, when it’s hitting the fan, when that horrible diagnosis comes, or a job is lost, or a loved one dies, it can feel impossible to thank God and give Him praise.
But, that is precisely when the soul most needs to do so.
Practice and train yourself. Start every prayer and contemplation of God with praise and remembrance of all His blessings. Maybe it was the birth of a child or grandchild, or the last time in Confession when you received mercy. Big or small, cite it all and thank God. Even if that time was simply thanking Him for getting you through that moment or giving you just enough grace to survive that ‘thing’.
Always give praises to Him Who is worthy of praise!
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
