Last night sitting before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at Adoration, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of thanks rising in my heart. I thanked God for all the gifts, blessings and even trial in my life. Everything has meaning to turn my eyes to see Him. And, God is present in all these people, things and moments.
As the thanks poured from my heart, the depths of my soul began to swell with joy. I lifted my eyes to see Jesus sitting before me, His eyes resting into mine, a small smile upon His Holy Face. I could feel the love emanating from Hid Most Sacred Heart. As I basked a moment in this incredible love, the single word YWH came to mind – I AM. I knew in that instant that not only was I seeing Jesus but the Father, and Holy Spirit were also present. And, wow – They were looking at me in joy and love.
I dropped in that moment into the aisle, falling face down. I knew I was on holy ground before The Holy Himself. Me?! So unworthy and unholy yet there He is – God the Trinity.
“How can I say what I should say to You, Lord?” Silence wrapping in pure love. I rattled off all the reasons I was unworthy and welling up within me came this song.
All the times I’ve fallen, sinned and been anything (even polar opposite) to a saint, God has been there. He was not ever acting as Judge. He always came as the Most Merciful Savior. His love and mercy pouring out. In that moment, I was filled with the grace of knowing all the blessings, trials and even my falls are a grace from the Trinity to bring me here to this moment.
So play this in your heart and mind, sing it over and over for all your life from your soul. It’s a very simple lyric and chorus, but Praising God should be simple. He is beyond all wonder and praise but so simple – Our God is an Awesome God!!!
