King forever, Ceasing never

Spread the love

The LORD will reign forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD! Psalm 146:10

God reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy throne. Psalm 47:8

The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD has clothed and girded Himself with strength; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Psalm 93:1

Today at Mass, praising the Lord as King, as King over Who will reign over all the earth, I captured His supreme and holy majesty in the manger. The magi came from far to see this King of Whom proclaims and the star heralded. Such incredible power to draw the whole world to Himself as just a baby still ‘wrapped in swaddling clothing.’ The image of this mighty King remains with me in prayer now.

I see the manger, with Joseph and Mary gazing lovingly at their new Son. I can feel Mary’s joy at the Spirit’s gift. And while I see a tear of joy in Joseph’s eyes, I can sense the pressure of a new dad, especially the dad of THIS boy. I see the angel guardians huddled around, marveling at their Lord, how could He Who reigns in Heaven be captured in such a small body. Amazed to see this “plan” of the Father actually in flesh and blood. I can sense the immense majesty of this child as He lays in this humble place. Majesty and power to which ALL creation will bow. But, now He sleeps in a feeding trough. Magi from the east are coming to give Him homage Whom is King of kings but who receives the first invitation to behold this incredible event, to worship and praise the King? The lowly shepherd.

Mary looks at me and tells me, “He is not for the kings, rich or greatest….He is for ALL – especially the lowliest, most humbled sinner.” My breath is taken away, “even for me, do you know where I’ve been and how I treated God?”. And Joseph looks up from Jesus at me, I can see his chin quiver as a tear rolls down his cheek, “He is here now, child, precisely because of those reasons.” “He knew, He had to come for YOU.”

Reflect upon the coming of the King. Just how much God loves YOU, “Know then that I want you to unite yourself more closely to Me. I am concerned about every beat of your heart. Every stirring of your love is reflected in My Heart. I thirst for your love.” Diving Mercy in my soul #1542

  1. It is amazing that He comes first to the shepherds first. Even more amazing that He still comes to all of us no matter who we are, no matter how much we have sinned and rejected Him
    God Bless

    1. Jesus said to the Servant of God, Sr. Josefa Menendez, “My Heart takes comfort in forgiving. I have no greater desire, no greater joy, than when I can pardon a soul.”
