“With the confidence of a child, I throw myself into Your arms, O Father of Mercy” – Divine Mercy in My Soul # 505
When a child is frightened or gets hurt, the natural place of comfort is the arms of a parent. This is the first thing a crying child looks for. So it must be with us.
St. Therese of Lisieux emphasized the importance of trust and surrender in her relationship with God, often likening it to a child’s trust in a father. St. Therese described the ideal relationship with God as that of a child sleeping peacefully in their father’s arms, free from fear. She believed that this surrender was the path to divine love
The arms of our Father in Heaven, and Jesus our Savior, are what we must run to in our need. We should not hesitate to turn to God in all things, especially when tempted to despair, or when we recognize our weakness and sin
When burdens weigh you down, or when you get angry or are tempted to despair, where do you turn?
Ideally, we run to Him when life is good and when we are filled with great joy and consolation. But God also wants us to run to Him, immediately, when life is hard. Make the arms of God the first thing you think about when you find yourself in need.
Run to God in every moment! Throw yourself with abandon from the precipice of fear before you. Leap boldly out into the unknown. For there is one thing known – God is the loving Father and WILL ALWAYS catch you when you leap into His arms.
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits— who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” – Psalm 103:1-5
