Come Holy Spirit – Soften My Heart

Spread the love

“for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” – Psalm 139:14

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”- Jeremiah 1:5

At the moment of your conception, and even before, God infused you with power, and mission. The angels were created for a specific individual purpose – Gabriel for the Annunciation, your Guardian for you. Likewise, He gave you your soul, with your own desires and gifts. God gave to you His purpose for you.

You have a purpose. But, God also gave you the ultimate power in the course of your life. He has His plans for you, but you have ultimate veto power. You have the ability and freedom to say no to God. In this way, God has made Himself subject to your will. He has given the power to you to reject His plan and guidance in your life.

Remember too that you can harden your heart to God. Don’t be mistaken or prideful to think that you can harden just one part of your heart. When you close a door to God on one aspect of your life, you shut Him out fully. A cancerous cell will spread and infect and destroy the whole soul.

Be carful: when you cut God out of just one part of your life, the demons will rush into that open area and fill it. And, now being on the inside,, this legion will then work tirelessly to close and lock other doors to God.

When you harden your heart in this one area, the concrete spreads and hardens outward until the whole heart shuts out God. Your whole heart slowly becomes hardened and colder, shutting out God.

“Today if you hear His voice, harden not your hearts” – Hebrews 3:7-8

God honors your will. He gave you this choice for a single reason, for the sake of love. Love must be given freely. Love cannot be ordered, forced or commanded.

The good news is that God will always work with you and for you. He will never stop knocking on the door to your heart. He will tirelessly chip away at the concrete forming around your heart. He is always striving to draw you in.

He may allow demons to infest you. He may let you choose even mortal sin, and let you ‘bask’ in that sin. He may let you walk alone in the dark valley or ride alone in the ship upon the stormy seas. But, even these are for your good. Even these are done by God because of the depth of His love for you.

“We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28

Sometimes it takes a soul to get lost in sin to see how sick sin is and how sweet is God’s mercy. Sometimes it even takes demonic possession to open one’s eyes. Sin and demons are tools God may use to turn a heart back to Him. Other times, He may let you walk in the dark night, ‘alone’ – just so you can feel that loneliness which can only be felt without Him. This moment turned my heart for sure.

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope” – Jeremiah 29:11

The key now, and immediately is to open the doors and windows wide in EVERY area of your life. Let God in now. And, accept His Will and guidance. Accept what He knows is right and just.

Break away the hardness formed or forming around your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit, He is especially skilled at this task.
