We say don’t we, I believe in God, the Father the Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, yet the Lord God who reveals Himself to us reveals who He is in lileness, powerlessness, weaknesses. Consider Bethlehem, Nazareth, Calvary, can anything good come from these places? What kind of power is this, what kind of power is here? Wise men, Orientals, foreigners, arrived in Jerusalem asking, Where is the newborn King of the Jews?
We have seen his star at its rising and we have come to do Him homage. They find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, laying in a manger, in Bethlehem of Judea. The King of Kings, the Lord God of Hosts, a baby, in Bethlehem of Judea in an animal feeding box. Bethlehem, the name means House of Bread, was a prosperous grain-growing district, and this baby, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, will take bread, bless the bread, break it and give it to us saying, “Take this all of you and eat it, for this is My body which will be given up to you.” Up, as in lied up on the cross, up as in taken up into Heaven. The Lord God of Hosts, the All Holy Trinity, the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Lord God Almighty, a Baby, and bread. Even a child can understand bread. What power is this, bread power, baby power?
The wood of the manger was a short distance away from the wood of the cross as Bethlehem is a short distance from Jerusalem’s Calvary, that place of the skull. The Kings, we three kings of Orient, brought Him gold (gold for a king) and wrien over His head on that cross in Hebrew, Lan and Greek, “Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews.” Despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows. “You don’t look like no king to me Jesus.” Whoever looks on Him sees the Father, the Lord God of Hosts, the Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. Bearing gis they brought Him incense. His life (this child’s life), a prayer, will rise like incense in God’s sight, a sweet-smelling sacrifice. “Father into your hands I commend My spirit,” and bowing His sacred head He give up His spirit.
You are a priest forever in the line of Melchizedek, not just priest but vicm as well, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Over moor and mountain, they brought Him Myrrh. Myrrh and aloes to anoint the body of Jesus, myrrh, an embalming agent, for a child?
Isaiah, 600 years before the birth of Jesus said of Him, “Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, like a sheep that is dumb before its shearers, never opening his mouth.” By force and by law He was taken, would anyone plead His cause?
Yes, He was torn away from the land of the living, for our faults struck down in death. They gave Him a grave with the wicked, a tomb with the rich though He had done no wrong and there had been no perjury in His mouth. The Lord God had been pleased to crush Him with suffering. Yet, if He offers His life in atonement He shall see His heirs. He shall have a long life and through Him what God wants will be done.
Keep in mind, Jesus is the Son of God and is God. Whoever sees Jesus sees the Father, sees God.
