“Today, the Lord came to me and said, My daughter, help Me to save souls. You will go to a dying sinner, and you will continue to recite the chaplet, and in this way you will obtain for him trust in My mercy, for he is already in despair.
Suddenly, I found myself in a strange cottage where an elderly man was dying amidst great torments. All about the bed was a multitude of demons and the family, who were crying. When I began to pray, the spirits of darkness fled, with hissing and threats directed at me. The soul became calm and, filled with trust, rested in the Lord.” – Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1797
“I thirst” – John 19:28
You’ve probably never had quite the experience that St. Faustina documents here. But, maybe you’ve had some sense of calling out on your heart to pray for someone?
I’ve had this happen several times where the Lord has put on my heart to pray for X. I try very hard to answer and pray right away. Very rarely do I know why – just know I need to pray. Wild part is when i speak to the person, they say something is going on that needs prayer.
There have been other times I felt God call me, or wake me in the night to pray for dying. I try to pray a Chaplet of Divine Mercy asking God to set me ‘at the bedside’ of the person and pour the full ocean of mercy through my meager prayer.
I’ve never been taken somewhere. That would be crazy. But, I do know that God is taking my prayers to the soul. I have felt my prayers supported by the Blessed Mother’s prayers, lifting and multiplying them by her Immaculate Heart.
Have you ever considered the power of your prayers in these dire moments? A soul, laying alone in fear of the next minutes. Demons surrounding the soul to keep that fear alive and growing. In comes your prayer or Chaplet to drive light into the moment, pushing the demons away as the prayers give peace to the soul. The soul in a moment comes to know that God IS waiting – he may even hear in his soul, “I am the way and the truth and the life” – John 14:6.
I may never find myself in some strange cottage, but I do believe when I come to that moment myself, someone will be called upon for prayers. And, I also know that when I I open my eyes, I will see my Savior surrounded by the souls for whom I was asked to pray. They will all welcome me home. I also know that some of these souls will be thankful as the only reason they found that final trust was due to ‘my’ prayer and Chaplet.
Be open to Jesus when He calls upon your heart through promptings of the Holy Spirit to pray.
Consider this post as a call from the Holy Spirit to pray right now, today, for souls in these final moments. Let’s join together as the Road of Faith community to lock the gates of Hell today that no soul who dies may fall into Hell. God’s Divine Mercy is powerful enough to break through even the most hardened heart. Don’t let this moment pass for any soul. Let God through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary open this moment of Mercy to the soul who needs it most.
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, spread the effect of grace of thy Flame of Love over all humanity, now and at the hour of death. Amen
Pray you Chaplet of Divine Mercy, trusting the graces of your prayers will be applied by God where needed most.
