Come Holy Spirit – Help Me Remember

Spread the love

We pray that the Holy Spirit would move in us and allow us to remember.

We shouldn’t freak out. It’s like, oh my gosh. I’ve got so much to remember. You hear a good talk or you hear a good homily or you read something in the Scriptures. It’s like, I just wanna remember this. And it’s almost like we can get anxious about, I gotta remember. I gotta remember.

Well, the Spirit of God knows all. And we need to trust and be confident that what Jesus says is true, that that the Holy Spirit will help us to remember. And we just pray that, Lord, when there is that time that I will remember.

Little things, it seems so basic, but that we would remember that we’re loved. And in the time that I need that most, that the Lord’s Holy Spirit would remind me that I’m loved. That I need to remember that I’m forgiven. I need to remember that God is a Father who sees me and knows me, to be able to remember all that Christ has done for me, to remember his grace, his mercy, his freedom, his healing, his truth, wisdom. I don’t have to remember all of it at once, but I do pray that I can remember where I’m supposed to go to be able to find it, and that is ultimately to him.

The Lord will plant seeds deep within that He will bring out at the proper time. When my daughter saw the man she said was Jesus, I will never forget my reaction. She hadn’t seen His face or heard His Name but when she said “I knew His voice”, BAM. John 10:27-28 came to mind. It was never a ‘memory verse’, something from Scripture I pushed to remember. But, deep within it was planted. And that evening, these words rushed forward and filled my mind, heart and soul. I knew, first hand, what they meant and that Jesus spoke them for me.

“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.” – John 10:27-28

I knew in that instant that everything would be ok. Trust in Jesus – my daughter is one of His sheep – His daughter. What worry was there now?

The Holy Spirit will help you remember the important stuff when it’s most important. When lost and alone – He will remind you of the sound of His voice. When mired in darkness of sin, He will remind you of His Mercy. When scared of something overwhelming, He will remind you of your Father.

Trust in God and ask the Holy Spirit to remind you when your need reminded. And most especially that you never forget God.
