Everyone, especially men, seek to dominate. We learn this as we play army as kids, as we charge the mighty dragon as a knight in our dreams.
But, this isn’t the domination we seek today from the Holy Spirit.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20
“If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” – Luke 9:23
Domination over self is a power many are lacking now. We live in a world that impulse buys what it wants – no money, credit. We take what we want and expect it be given freely to us when we command.
This is one thing I’ve learned over the years being a father and husband. I must take dominion – not over my wife and kids but over myself. Yes, it is my role to have dominion over my wife and kids, not lord over them but to serve as Christ does.
“not my will but yours be done.” – Luke 22:42
It is surrender that the soul starts to learn what he is asking when he asks the Holy Spirit for ‘the power to dominate.” It is here that the soul learns how to die to self, dominate his emotions and obtain the gifts of God.
When you embrace the pattern of dying to yourself and rising again, you become one of those rare men who, when you’re around them, you can sense a surging unstoppable force in their peaceful presence.
All the powers of hell and darkness tremble before a true man of God.
The man who has dominated the powers within himself who slay the dragons in his own heart, and because of that, he is able to make a gift of himself in love.
That’s what you should do with your desire to dominate. The world needs that kind of man more than ever, even if the world is forgotten.
Be that man.
