Come Holy Spirit – Feed Me

Spread the love

“When it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now very late; send them away so that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.”” – Mark 6:35-36

Are you hungry? You might need a snack but I’m speaking of something more to the core of life. Is your soul hungry?

Sadly, so many walk through life today spiritually starving and dehydrated. They are ill both physically and in spirit, but have no clue of the cause. These souls, a majority of people nowadays, are dying because they are not feeding themselves spiritually. They do not have a relationship with God, the Shepherd, the Bread of life. They don’t pray, read the Bible, go to Mass or receive the Eucharist.

“But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?”  And he said to them, “How many loaves have you? Go and see.” When they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” – Mark 6:37-38

God tells us time and again to come to Him and He will feed us. He will give us an abundance of all we need to not just survive, but to thrive. He multiplies for us the loaves and fishes – He takes our meager prayers, our distracted prayers and the short times in the Bible. He takes our habitual, bored reception of the Eucharist. He takes all this and multiplies them to fill our souls.

“I have food to eat of which you do not know” – John 4:32

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.” – Psalm 23:1-3

Then, being fed, God calls us to go out and feed His sheep.

“Feed My sheep” – John 21:17
