“You’ve never seen Me but you know Me.”
This morning while contemplating the Name of Jesus my heart focused on my mind’s knowledge of Jesus. It can be very difficult to believe fully with one’s whole being when you haven’t seen something with your own eyes. Speaking for myself, I find it very easy at times to be very much like Thomas (especially with a middle name of Thomas).
“Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe.” John 20:24-25
I have felt guilty at times for some of those ‘doubts’ that have crept in. I think about all God has done directly for me. As I documented in my book “I knew His voice”, Jesus and the Father have spoken directly to me, Jesus appeared physically to my daughter (twice) and has done some pretty remarkable things in the past years. So, how is it that doubt can creep in?
Simple answer, I am still growing. God is still making me.
Jesus answers this question this morning with these words, “You’ve never seen Me but you know Me.”
“Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” John 20:28
I am at a place in my faith in which I don’t need to see and touch the wounds in His Holy Hands and side. I do believe just because I know Him.
Do you ever have those feelings of doubt? Does the thought “what if Jesus is just a man or story?” It’s not a crime nor a sin that these thoughts come to mind. It takes a lot of faith to believe in someone you’ve never seen. This is a moment to flip the thought and think about your faith and step beyond reason. When we rely solely upon our faith, our reason because clear.
