Write It Down

Do you journal?

No surprise to any, in fact I’ve not hidden that I do. The Road of Faith and all my posts over the past 5 1/2 years are one aspect of my journaling. Mostly more my ‘public’ thoughts but at times deeper. I have other handwritten journals that contain many more ‘private’ and ‘personal’ thoughts – which I wouldn’t hide if someone were to desire to read. But, these are more closely held thoughts and prayers not shared for the most part. Though there is some crossing between the written and posts.

I highly recommend making this investment. You can get journals easily. Don’t have to be fancy. Some of mine are faith aligned but many others are just plain journals.

Once you have the journal and pen, set aside some time to start. My journal contains thoughts on Bible reading, notes on thoughts put on my heart by God, faith centered events of the day and struggles. I have many prayers written down on these pages. And, some ‘dialogues’ with God documented. I wrote about my struggles and down times of faith as well as those big, mountaintop experiences.

Start simple. Date the page. Then, just write your thoughts about God today. Jot down a Scripture verse that is on your mind. Write out a prayer on your heart.

Many of my journal entries don’t turn out the way I thought they would when I started writing. I just start and let God guide my pen.

Discipline yourself then to make an entry each day.
