Praise God for the women of faith, through history of our lives.
Why is it that so often women are the ones who point first to God?
I reflect on this and see our Lady, The Mother of God, as our first leader and pointer. It was through her fiat and through her direction that the whole of the world is pointed toward her Son, our Lord and God, Jesus.
We see great examples in Mary Magdalene, who Jesus chose to be the first to know of the resurrection and the evangelist to the apostles of that resurrection.
The people who have all done the most to point and orient me to God are women. Mother Mary. St. Faustina, St. Therese and of course, my beautiful wife, Connie. Every word, deed, prayer and example raises my eyes to see Jesus and how to live for Him more completely.
No doubt the men play a huge and maybe primary role as evangelists. The Apostles took what Mary showed them and spread the message of God and His Catholic Church throughout the world. They changed everything. The men close to me have been great disciples and apostle evangelists to me, as well. They each gave me something to strive for in my Road of Faith journey. Bob for his passion of the world and willingness to lose the world to stand for and with Christ – his faith has gained mucho blessings for himself and so many others. Mikey for his child-like yes to follow Jesus when God pointed at the diaconate. Tom for his love of our Lady. Stephen for his focus on what is right within the Catholic faith and willingness to share this message.
Today let us honor the women in our lives who have brought us closer to God, and I pray help keep us in line and on the Road of Faith that leads to God’s Kingdom.
