If one wants to do the Will of God, a soul must pray. Not just pray but, be prayerful.
To be prayerful, one must break away from all worldly attachments. In a sense, one must become monk-like in the world to draw close to God.
The Divine Will of God is pure. But to see and follow His Divine Will, we must separate ourselves from worldly attachments.
To break from the world’s path and walk the Divine Will of God, we must be men and women of prayer. We can’t just pray now and then, we must be fully in prayer at all times. The more we pray and listen to God, the more He will be able to share His Wisdom and clearly guide us to accepting His Divine Will.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24
Jesus is very clear on this. If we are holding onto any worldly attachments or focusing upon obtaining worldly ‘gifts’, we will be drawn toward the world and away from God.
As we break away from the things of the world, we open our hearts to following God’s Will. It becomes easier to hear His Voice and to take the next step. If we are focusing on any worldly goal, we either aren’t listening or hesitant to taking that next step.
My wife and I recently downsized and in that process got rid of cable TV. The amount of time that alone freed up is significant. That time and peace has given us both the opportunity to hear God and see Him moving in our lives. In the near future, we will be following God’s call for next steps which will take our Road of Faith to the next level – more to come in the next months on this road which God is leading us.
Do you consider yourself to be a man or woman of prayer? When you pray, do you stop talking and listen to God for His guidance? Are you open to saying yes whatever God asks of you?
