You have set me free. I am no longer a captive of my sin and guilt. I am who YOU say I am, I’m a child of God.
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father!”” Romans 8:15
“But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” John 1:12
If there is anything I’ve learned from the Father’s Divine Mercy is that I am not who the world says I am, I am not who Satan wants me to believe I am. I am who the Father says I am – I am a child of God.
Over the last several years, I have watched so many Christians wallowing in the mire of their sin. The guilt of what they had done in the past, or maybe even today, weighs them down. They have listened to the enemy for so long they actually believe his lies. These sad souls have come to a point in which they believe themselves unlovable.
I have heard their words, “how could God love me, especially when He sees what I’ve done?”, “how could even God forgive me?” I know these condemnations very well, I spoke them to myself many times.
The terrifying part of these statements is the curse that we speak upon ourselves in saying them. These words are hollow lies of Satan, but spoken over and over, we make them real. We speak self-fulfilling curses upon our souls.
We say them enough times that we begin to believe them. Then, over time, these words lead us down a path in which we don’t believe ourselves worthy of forgiveness. Then, we stop asking.
This lack of trust in His Mercy is the unforgivable sin of which Jesus speaks.
“whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” Mark 3:29
Curses bear huge power, self curses may even be worse. These can hold nearly unbreakable power. We hold these chains tightly, even if someone unlocks them. Our curse maintains the prison bars.
Overcome these curses by speaking truth in place of lie. The enemy says, “you’re a horrible sinner.” Respond with, “I am a child of God.” When the enemy says, “your sin is unforgivable.” Respond with, “whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I’m a child of God. I am worth God’s life.”
Turn the shadow of lies around and trust that absolutely no sin or pile of sin is too big for God’s mercy. In fact, if you feel you’ve committed too many dark sins, turn to Divine Mercy, that is where God’s power shines. Glorify His Divine Mercy by simply asking one more time for the Father’s forgiveness(and one more if needed).
“Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 699
