What Happens When

Spread the love

This is a question that many ask. What happens when God doesn’t say yes? What happens when you ask Jesus for healing and He says not yet? Or is silent?

Many face illness or challenge in the lives. An illness that changes everything, takes your breath away and challenges your faith…. What is our response as men and women of faith? It should be to turn to Jesus in prayer and trust. For me, when faced with this moment, I turned to God in anger and disbelief. As time moved forward my faith was shaken because it wasn’t built upon the bedrock foundation of trust – absolute trust.

He will never say no for any request offered in faith. If you believe and trust in His power to heal and His love, Jesus guarantees healing – just not always right at that moment. Oft times that healing is withheld until Heaven for the glory of God the Father.

I begged God many times a day, “Lord, I know you can heal my daughter if You just touch a tassel of Your cloak…and I will glorify You.” But, He remained silent. Silence to me was a solid no. But, not just a no, it was personal. I lacked the trust that despite His silence, Jesus had heard my prayer. Not only did He hear this prayer, He replied “to glorify the Father, not yet.”

It wasn’t until a year later, and to be honest, not truly until I did the rewrite on ‘I Knew His Voice’ that I got this. God’s silence was so that the Father be glorified. His ‘not yet’ was the catalyst to a fall and dark night for me that led to a greater dawn. A sunrise of trust like I never experienced before. It was also a piece that led to “I Knew His Voice.” Through this book, many have been healed, many have come to see Jesus. Many, including myself, have come to see that trust in Jesus and the Father is only true when it is absolute. Trust is only absolute when it trusts even when the answer is ‘not yet’ or ‘no.’

Someday, all will be healed. All tears will be wiped away, the lame will leap, the blind see many colors, the mute will shout for joy. Someday could be immediately or tomorrow, never let your faith waiver or hold you back from constantly asking God to heal that illness. But, always have faith that of Jesus replies, ‘not yet”, it is because He trusts you to honor the Father by your trust – absolute trust. Have the faith of Ja’irus or this Ed.

So, what happens when you seek God for healing and He says not yet? Trust…for Jesus trusts your acceptance and response. Study God in the Bible and St. Faustina’s writings, through St. Therese of Liseux learn childish trust. Absolute trust.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

“ He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
and abides in the shade of the Almighty
says to the Lord: “My refuge,
my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!”” Psalm 91:1-2
