Trusting in God’s Mercy

Spread the love

My heart is even more wounded by their distrust after a fall. It would be less painful if they had not experienced the goodness of My heart” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1532

Walking out of the confessional the soul is free. Exhilaration overwhelms the heart with joy. The soul is weightless, wanting to float up into God’s arms. Then, the enemy begins his whispering. By the parking lot, the first twangs of doubt drip into the soul. By the time the soul leaves the parking lot, he feels a tremble, wondering if God really forgave him.

Sound familiar? Ever feel you could go back to Confession by the time you get to the church’s door?

The time one needs forgiveness most is after a grave sin. Yet, this is when the soul fears most to approach the Father. To admit one’s failing to your loving dad risks His wrath. To admit a sin of this magnitude is going to break His heart. How could He forgive? How could He ever look at you the same way?

These thoughts do break God’s Heart, piercing His Sacred Heart more painfully than the spear. Make no mistake, the sin causes God pain. The sin, no matter grave or venial brings tears to His cheeks and add another stripe to His back.

But, more painful than even the most grievous sin is the soul who lacks trust in God’s Mercy.

“with everlasting love I will have compassion on you, says the Lord, your Redeemer.” Isaiah 54:8

God’s love and mercy are everlasting. That means nothing diminishes His Mercy, nothing ever can make God not love you. The only way God’s love and mercy can be turned from a soul is if the soul itself turns his back on the mercy and love.

If you’ve fallen, we all have, trust God’s promises. Trust His Love. Trust His Divine Mercy. And turn again and again and again…a trillion times seven trillion, to God. Tell the Father what you did and tell Him you’re sorry. Ask Him to forgive you and help you. I am not a theologian, but I guarantee you that His mercy will wash you clean. You will find yourself in the Father’s embrace as He wipes away your tears. And, He will guide you to growth to avoid falling again.

The cross is a visible manifestation of this everlasting love. Nothing, NOTHING, you do can ever make Him not live you. Never distrust God’s everlasting Mercy. Never hesitate or wait to ask His forgiveness and mercy.

Do it now.
