“Be not afraid of your Saviour, O sinful soul. I make the first move to come to you, for I know that by yourself you are unable to lift yourself to me. Child, do not run away from your Father; be willing to talk openly with your God of mercy who wants to speak words of pardon and lavish his graces on you. How dear your soul is to Me! I have inscribed your name upon My hand; you are engraved as a deep wound in My Heart” Divine Mercy in my soul % 1485
Letting go and surrendering your desires and needs to the Will of another is super difficult – even if that Someone is God. It isn’t easy to let go of the events of our life. We naturally think that if we hold on and guide things, we can control the outcome. And, of course, when we are in control things will work out better.
That may be true when it comes to dealings with other people. Even people we love and adore. I think very highly of my wife and would trust her with everything but there are some things I am probably better suited to handle. My role as spiritual leader in our marriage puts that weight upon me, as does my height and physical strength difference as a man. Though I know that in all things, she is my help-mate and even if I have to carry the burden, I never need to carry it alone.
How much more is that true when it is God to Whom we rely?
I trust my wife because she has earned that trust through many events and because I know in her love for me, she always has the best in mind for me and for our marriage. God makes her love and actions pale in comparison to His.
God is always making the first move toward us and the first move to help us towards Him. God is always the Father Who is lifting us into His arms and embrace. That loving embrace is never stronger than when we are facing hardship or challenges.
The soul needs to simply trust in God. His actions and history of protection and guidance in our lives should be enough to give us confident trust in Him (read the Bible for a long history of God’s love and guidance). But, if that isn’t enough, God’s unwavering love should give us confidence of trust in His Divine Will no matter what the circumstances of life brings.
As Jesus tells St. Faustina, we are so dear to Him that He has our very names inscribed upon His hands. Our names are inscribed in the nail marks and blood that He spilled for each of us. Our name is inscribed upon the Sacred Heart from which the Blood and Water of Divine Mercy flows.
God’s one single desire in your life is that you be with Him in Heaven forever and ever, worshipping the Father at the foot of His Divine Throne.
Trust that fact and all the events of this life, even the absolute worse we could imagine, change focus.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 8:38-39.
Amen! May you have a blessed day!
