To the Cross

Spread the love

“O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
O give thanks to the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures forever”. Psalm 136:1-3

Look ahead down the Road of Faith, there it is on the horizon. The cross.

Through life’s journey, we all get sidetracked and lost. We fall. Sin is more abundant along the Road of Faith than gas stations on the highway. The enemy waits at the side of the Road to throw nails to flatten our tires and put up obstacles to stop us. He throws up direction signs to misdirect us down wrong paths. His whole goal is to mislead us. And, sadly enough, many times we fall for his tricks.

So what do we do when we are misled? What do we do when we fall into even mortal sin?

in the Tribunal of Mercy (Sacrament of Reconciliation). There the greatest miracles take place and is incessantly repeated.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1448

Look ahead down the road, the cross always hangs high to give us direction. When we fall, take it to the cross. Turn to Jesus. Go to the Sacrament of His Divine Mercy, Reconciliation. Confess the failings, misdeeds, even temptation. Confess the most horrible and embarrassing of sins. Confess the most insignificant moments of sin – even the temptations that don’t come to sin.

Take it all to the cross. Lay them all at His Holy Feet. Let the blood and water flowing from His pierced Sacred Heart wash away all the stain of sin upon your life.

Don’t hesitate to make that climb up Calvary’s hill over and over. As many times as it takes to overcome your sinful ways. Make Calvary a price rest stop along your Road of Faith. Make the Cross your fill station.

The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 723

It isn’t a mistake that God is calling you even in your darkest sin. He doesn’t call you despite your darkest sin but because of them. Jesus calls the greatest sinner with the loudest voice. He seeks most intently for the sinner who’s soul is most stained. He died that the worst of sinners might be saved and find their way home to the Father.

The mercy of God abounds.

“where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” Romans 5:20

There’s no sin that’s greater than His love.

Let no one doubt concerning the goodness of God; even if a person’s sins were as dark as night, God’s mercy is stronger than our misery. One thing alone is necessary: that the sinner set ajar the door of his heart, be it ever so little, to let in a ray of God’s merciful grace, and then God will do the rest.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 1507
