To Be Witness

“But Peter and the apostles said in reply, “We must obey God rather than men.  The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree.  God exalted him at his right hand[e]as leader and savior to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins. We are witnesses of these things, as is the holy Spirit that God has given to those who obey him.”” Acts of the Apostles 5:29-32

Prophet, Martyr, Evangelist, all big names that simply mean witness.

We are called and assigned the mission by God to be a witness to God in a world filled with darkness and evils, a world confused and chasing its own tail seeking freedom and joy and peace.

Those big titles are intimidating. I have no skill or training to be a prophet, I don’t have the courage to be a martyr. I haven’t the words or knowledge to be an evangelist.

“We are witnesses of these things, as is the holy Spirit that God has given to those who obey him.”

Drop the chase of the title or the qualifications. God didn’t call you because you were qualified, He qualifies you by His power to be called. I am the last who would ever be called to preach or testify to God. I am way too introverted. But, God didn’t call me to a stage or microphone – not at first.

God simply came into my life and changed me forever. He then gave me a heart that couldn’t hold back the flood of what He did in my life. “Introvert Damn” burst the day I met God. Without realizing it, I found myself talking about God and what He did in my life. I found myself leading Bible Studies and Men’s Groups then suddenly a large ministry. Not because I knew what I was doing but because God lit a fire in my heart to tell His story in my life.

All God asks of you is to be a witness to what He’s done in your life. Testify to what you’ve seen God do at a personal level. That’s what the twelve Apostles did – told the stories of what they witnessed. Told of the nights at Jesus’ side, listening to His teachings. Accepted the Holy Spirit and let the damn burst free His flood.

Open your heart, ask the Spirit for the words and stories – bonus is that He will give you the words to tell the stories but also that these recollections will rekindle the fire and passion and set your heart ablaze.

Next thing you know, you might be standing before a crowd testifying about God.
