The world refuses to see

“While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”” Matthew 28:11-14

This past Easter, these verses rang out to me. Not sure why I never caught it before.

We know how the Sanhedrin and Jewish leaders conspired to kill Jesus. We read that all the time in the passion narratives. When Jesus’ betrayer repented of his actions, the Sanhedrin callously replied, “what is it to us?” (Matthew 27:4). The Sanhedrin brought together many witnesses to testify lies against Jesus. (Matthew 26:59-60) Then, in the courtyard, when Pilate offered a trade, the leaders convinced the crowd to demand Barabas over Jesus. (Matthew 27:15-21). The leaders worked up the gathered crowd to cry out to Pilate to ‘crucify Him’ (Matthew 27:23).

Then, as a final piece to push Pilate to kill Jesus, they harangued the people into a riotous mob (Matthew 27:24)

After all the miracles and healings, the leaders saw nothing but their own positions and pride.

But, all this could be forgiven I guess. Jesus even asked the Father to “forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).

We know all these accounts in the Gospels. But, what struck me this time was that even after eyewitnesses came to the Sanhedrin and told them He was risen , the leaders doubled down. They bribed the guards to lie and protected them. Even with two witnesses corroborating this incredible event, these leaders still wouldn’t believe. They worked to cover the truth, a truth that at least should give them reason to wonder if Jesus truly is the Messiah.

History repeats itself. The leaders of our present day are working feverishly to accomplish the same goal is the Sanhedrin – to kill God. They strive with all their efforts and media to destroy God again. And, despite two millennia of proof of the resurrection and facts that add up to leave no doubt of God’s existence, they still work to cover up His resurrection and presence.

The leaders and media are working hard to work the mob into a riot against God. Read about Marxism and you’ll see the main point of this agenda is to destroy God in the world.

Are you willing to stand in witness against the lies of this world’s leaders and speak the truth about God’s presence? Are you willing to stand before the mob and declare “Jesus Christ is risen!”

Many of the day will turn on us if we stand up for Jesus – no doubt. We will be attacked and even cast out of society. But, if even just one person listens and believes when we speak out – it’s all worth it.

Our mission is to bring other souls onto the Road of Faith. Don’t worry about what to say or that you’re not ready. Just get the person on the Road of Faith and like the two disciples heading to Emmaus, Jesus will come up, explain things and set their hearts on fire.

I am willing to stand against the world – who will join me? Don’t allow Jesus to stand before the world alone – let’s stand with the Lord.
