The True Hero

Spread the love

“But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us. “ Romans 5:8

In today’s world, heroes are the center of movies and singers are called idols. Sports and movie stars are considered heroes despite abuses, anger and drugs. We need to focus upon the One, True Hero. The Man Who truly did save the world with His Precious Blood and not CGI.

Jesus Christ!

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

In this season of Easter we need to put things in the right order. We are sinners, not a single one of us on this earth today or has ever walked this earth (beside Mary and Jesus) were anything more than sinners. We, you and me, crucified God in our sin. There is nothing about us that makes us worthy of God’s love or mercy. But, here comes the hero.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” John 3:16

God came, in the form of Jesus Christ, a baby at Christmas, mild mannered His cape swaddled around Him. He grew in life, hidden from all. Before Pilate, He stood mild-mannered and meek, hiding His Kingship. Then at Easter, He climbed upon the cross that He could save us. When vengeance was rightly due, Jesus called out mercy, “Father, forgive them! They know not what they do” Luke 23:34

Then, He descended into Hell and broke the gates and power of death. My favorite prayer of the Ukrainian Catholic Church is sung during Easter, many many times – “Christ is risen from the dead, by death trampling death, and to those in the tombs granting life!” Death was not a kryptonite to Him.

He pulls back the cloak that shrouds His nature to show that He is the greatest hero and only true hero – Jesus the Christ. Fully revealed not as Superman or Ironman but as God Most High, God All Mighty.

Alleluia? Alleluia!!!
