“What does God’s voice sound like? How did you know it was God’s voice?”
I was recently asked by someone I met on our Road of Faith what the voice of God sounds like. We had just had a conversation about hearing God’s voice. I had told her that I have heard the voice of the Father and that of Jesus Christ. I have felt the Spirit move in a substantial way. But, how to say what God’s voice sounds like.
How did I know the voice of God was Him? While I can’t tell you what His voice sounds like, I can tell you that when He speaks, there is no doubt it is God. He speaks with crystal clarity to the soul, to the mind and to the ear.
Do you speak to God every day? Does He speak to you?
Do you spend time, every day, every day, reading the Bible? If you don’t, you won’t hear His voice. But, spend time reading the Bible and I guarantee you will hear His voice, every day.
The Bible is His message to each of us. This is His words spoken to us. ‘Red letters’ or not, the Bible from “In the beginning when God created” through the Gospels until “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen” – Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 is God’s voice coming to you. Within it all, He came to earth to place His words within those ‘red letters’ so we could hear more clearly His voice.
Jesus, God the Father and the Holy Spirit speak today. Read the stories of St. Theresa of Kalkuta or St. Faustina for witness. Read my book, “I knew His Voice” for someone much closer to you than these great saints. He is present and speaking now, today. Get close to Him in the Bible, Mass and prayer and you will start to hear.
Then, when someone asks you what God’s voice sounds like or how did you know.. you can answer “I Knew His Voice.”
