“In the evening, when I was in my cell, I saw the Lord Jesus clothed in a white garment. One hand [was] raised in the gesture of blessing, the other was touching the garment at the breast. From beneath the garment, slightly drawn aside at the breast, there were emanating two large rays, one red, the other pale. In silence I kept my gaze fixed on the Lord; my soul was struck with awe, but also with great joy. After a while, Jesus said to me, Paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and [then] throughout the world.
I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over [its] enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 47-48
The Image of the Merciful Jesus, the Divine Mercy Image that we see now in so many churches and homes is a key to unlock the treasury of God’s Mercy.
But, it isn’t just to be placed upon a wall to let it hang. Nor, even to place in a location that it can be seen.
Mercy, like this Image, must be venerated. For the Image of Divine Mercy to become a shield against one’s enemies (sin), it must be venerated. The soul who truly and deeply venerates the image comes to understand God’s mercy and desire it more. As this Divine Mercy is sought after more fully, eyes can lower to the signature in understanding and faith.
Place the image in your home, find it in your church, set it as your Home Screen on your phone. Put the image before you always, draw it into your heart and soul. Venerate the image and all it stands for. Take up the Image and God’s Mercy as your shield.
If you don’t have the image on your walls, or do t see it in your church, consider putting it there.
As the soul draws to truly sing the words on the image, trust in the Divine Mercy of God becomes our life’s breath. Jesus defends this soul as His Own Glory. This is no small thing. Jesus, Divine Mercy Himself, becomes the shield for the soul.
