The Hero

Spread the love

I reflect this morning on a great hero of faith and trust. A man from the Old Testament who shined with virtuous faith in the face of torment. Who is this hero?

Joseph.

Joseph in the Bible is one of the greatest heroes of the Old Testament, second perhaps, only to Moses and right up there as Noah being accounted a righteous man. His life took many twists and turns, spiritually as well as practically, having the various occupations of shepherd, household slave, convict and prison administrator, and prime minister of Egypt. His story is featured in Genesis 37—50. Rightly so, he gets a lot of pages dedicated to his story.

He was accosted by his brothers, thrown in a well to die then sold into slavery. Joseph remained righteous before God. He was accused of adultery and put in prison. He remained righteous before God. He interpreted dreams because of his righteousness. Through a thousand negative moments, Joseph became a man who saved Egypt, the known world and his family, the family of God.

This is a hero to aspire to.
