Bible on the Road – The heavens declare

Spread the love

O wide embracing wondrous love,
We read thee in the sky above;
We read thee in the earth below,
In seas that swell and streams that flow. — Liturgy of the Hour Night Prayer

As we finish our first journey in our RV, Faith, I can’t help but think of what glories God has shown us over these past few months. If you’ve followed The Road of Faith for a while, you know that my wife and I have sold most everything and moved into an 5th wheel RV to travel the country to witness firsthand the beauty of God’s glory in nature’s splendor and to find and blog about the beautiful churches, cathedrals, shrines and other man made sites that call a soul to glorify God.

“The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.” Psalm 19:1

As I pray what to reflect upon this morning, the words of Psalm 19 come to mind. So, I’ve decided to show you some of the beauty God designed into Maine and New England. Bar Harbor, Acadia National Forest, the wave swept coast and the granite bared mountains of Maine, the cloud shrouded peak of Mt. Washington, hikes and waterfalls and more were so breathtaking and unforgettable.

God has certainly made a masterpiece of Maine and New England. The mountains, ponds, and sweeping forests are placed together in magnificence. But, for Connie and I, it was the waves crashing against the granite coastline off Acadia National Forest and Schooner Peninsula that moved us most and kept drawing us back for more.

One of many epic waterfalls

Though we searched high and low, we never found moose. But, God gave us some spectacular views.

No moose, but there be whales!

O wide embracing wondrous love,
We read thee in the sky above;
We read thee in the earth below,
In seas that swell and streams that flow.

We read thee best in him who came
And bore for us the cross of shame,
Sent by the Father from on high,
Our life to live, our death to die.
