The Cross breaks through

Spread the love

From Heaven to earth, the manger to the grave, the cross is proof that even if the soul is lost in the deepest darkest pit of sin, Love will never stop searching and redeeming.

When darkness of sin seems at its deepest and the storms within the soul are most terrifying, one thing shines through – the cross of Jesus Christ.

The picture is provided by an Emmaus sister, see the cross shining through the clouds?  This is such a great image to let soak into the soul and mind.  Though the storm clouds seem complete, the cross still shines.

Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.  My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity.  Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy.  Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity.  The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness.  It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter.  Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.  (699)

When you approach the confessional, know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you.  I am only hidden by the priest, but I Myself act in your soul.  Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy.  Tell souls that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust.  If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity.  The torrents of grace inundate humble souls.  The proud remain always in poverty and misery, because My grace turns away from them to humble souls.  (1602)

One of the greatest things to hear is Jesus telling the soul, “”God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

To know that this is actually Jesus speaking these words means so much.  The soul that recognizes this forgiveness is given directly from its Merciful Savior is truly free.  Every time I go to this beautiful Sacrament and feel my Savior’s mercy wash over me, I am strengthened to renounce the ties to sin in the future.  I am emboldened to walk from the confessional with a new life and energy and desire to let Jesus draw closer to me, until He and I are one.  Still working on this, it is an on-going journey for sure but with the ‘torrents of grace’ and ‘oceans of mercy’ that the Lord is pouring into my soul, I am filled with hope.

Go to this Sacrament of His Mercy (Reconciliation) and draw from this endless well of the love God.  The Lord is ready to welcome even the most miserable sinner home.  In Heaven there will be such rejoicing at one soul which is given new life by His Divine Mercy through the Holy Spirit’s fire.
