“As I was praying in this manner, I saw the Angel’s helplessness: he could not carry out the just punishment which was rightly due for sins. Never before had I prayed with such inner power as I did then.
The words with which I entreated God are these: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us.
The next morning, when I entered chapel, I heard these words interiorly: Every time you enter the chapel, immediately recite the prayer which I taught you yesterday. When I had said the prayer, in my soul I heard these words: This prayer will serve to appease My wrath. You will recite it for nine days, on the beads of the rosary, in the following manner: First of all, you will say one OUR FATHER and HAIL MARY and the I BELIEVE IN GOD. Then on the OUR FATHER beads you will say the following words: “Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.” On the HAIL MARY beads you will say the following words: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.” In conclusion, three times you will recite these words: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” Divine Mercy in my soul #474-476
Prayer is essential to our walk as Christians. When you pray, it is good to speak from the heart, pouring out your soul to God. Prayer must come from trust in God, your level of faith matters. A lot.
Like many, I’m sure, so many times my prayer came from a lack of faith and more from a heart of desperation. I believe that God hears those desperate prayers very loudly. “Then the Lord said, “I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings”. Exodus 3:7
The Lord is never deaf to our prayers, He asks us though to trust Him. Sometimes, the best path is not what we would want. When we pray for a sick relative only to see them get worse or die, trusting God hears those prayers can be very difficult. But, God asks trust. I know in my life the challenge this can put on one’s faith. For me, it nearly broke my faith. But, God knew better (dah!). His firm stance to give me what I needed not what I wanted passed me through a crucible and forged my soul in strength and power – His power, Hos Divine Mercy.
The months following my period of darkness were alive with growth and excitement with Divine Mercy. I was pulled from darkness by His Mercy in the Sacrament of Confession, set free of the chains that bound me in the words of absolution and words of a priest who allowed Jesus to love me and speak to me through him. I’ll never forget his penance for me – to hold onto a crucifix each evening and repeat “Jesus, I trust in You”. The words Jesus had inscribed as His signature on the painting He had St Faustina complete.
I started reading “Divine Mercy in my soul”, St. Faustina’s diary, and my course was forever altered.
Over the next years, Jesus spoke to me through the words in this diary and in prayer. My journals became my classroom notebooks as He led me through His Divine Mercy to trust with my ‘professor’, St. Faustina.
The most powerful piece of this education is the Chaplet. I pray this prayer at least daily. I find my peace through its words. In it, I find and rest in the arms of my Father.
I can’t recommend this prayer highly enough.
If you do not pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, try it every day for a week. Be faithful and trust in the faith revealed in the words spoken. You will see the doors of God’s Mercy open if you commit yourself to this prayer.
“By this novena (of Chaplets), I will grant every possible grace to souls.” Divine Mercy in my soul #796
