The Bible on the Road – “I Have Redeemed You”

“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

Remind me who I am to You, Oh Lord! I turn to You in my loneliness and despair. In bright days, I come to You with hands lifted in praise. You are my God. I am a miserable sinner. Not worthy of Your Mercy.

Yes, the enemy reminds us who we are in his evil eyes. To the enemy we are our sins. He knows are name, yet calls us by our sin. He wants nothing more than to bring dark clouds even on a bright day. He speaks very loudly within our ears, whispers incessantly in our minds. He poisons our faith with his evil lies. Lies he has been telling since he spoke to Eve in the garden. The ‘father of lies.’

Then why is God often so quiet? Why doesn’t He speak up and strengthen our hearts with His words? In truth, God speaks very loudly but in quiet and subtle ways. He draws us to Himself with strength building a solid foundation. Allowing us to lay the stones on our own. God is the architect, engineer, mason and so much more. Though God is the builder, He allows us to set the stones that become our faith.

I saw the pride and strength my son obtained when he designed and built his pinewood derby cars. I guided his hands to learn to use the tools. I helped him with parts beyond his ability, that next time he would have the ability. His cars weren’t usually the fastest but he was proud of each. This like what God the Father does within our souls. Like a good Father, God allows us to build the work. That we may learn to use the tools and take pride in our faith.

God is always reminding us that we are redeemed. He redeemed us. Nothing the enemy can say or do can change that, if we trust Him and focus on His words in Isaiah 43. He tells us not to fear. He created us yesterday gives us the guidance to build a great and powerful faith. When we realize that God the Father and Jesus Christ knows our sins but calls us by name, we are given the foundation and strength of faith.

Do you trust God to build your cathedral of faith? Or do you try to tell Him how to do it? Remember, He created and formed each of us. He is and has redeemed us. The Father proudly whispers our name.
