Surrender – Phase Three

Spread the love

The third stage of surrender is for God to do His Will through me. The difference between stage 2 and 3 is that in stage 2, I am the one who is doing God’s Will. In stage 3, God uses me, it is God Who is doing His Will through me.

I love the analogy of the violin. Initially, it was I who played the violin. God gave me the score, of course, but, it was me playing the notes. I obediently played the notes on the page. Now, I give the violin to God and let Him play. The violin has the same characteristics but there is no similarity between the notes I played and the music that resonates now. God not not only makes use of all the violin’s possibilities, but He reveals something of Himself in the playing. This third stage, being God’s violin is something completely different from playing the violin for God. Now, He does not content Himself with deciding what I should play, butHe Himself touches the strings of my faculties. God can only do this when He has the violin in His hands. When my surrender applies, to my whole self, The Master Virtuoso makes it sing in a way I could only dream of.

Remember the Prayer of Abandonment from the other day? I abandon myself into God’s hands with all the love of my heart, so I need to give myself, to surrender myself, into His hands without reserve.

When we surrender ourselves to God, we are giving ourself to Someone Who has loved us in an indescribable way. When we surrender, becoming the violin and allowing the Master to play our His music through and with us, the symphony which is God’s Divine Will comes alive, We come alive
