Hark the loud celestial hymn
Angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and Seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
A year before Our Lady came to the children at Fatima, first came her herald, the Angel of Peace. He appeared to the children three times asking them to pray, “Fear not. I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me.” Kneeling down, he bowed forward until his forehead touched the ground. “My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love Thee. I beg Thee forgiveness for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee.”
After he had repeated this twice, he rose and said: “Pray thus. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications.” Then he disappeared.
I once read that this Angel May have been Michael. I love this thought. Having served in the Honor Guard while in the USAF, it is fitting that our Queen would be preceded and accompanied by an honor guard of angels including the General of Jesus’s army.
The Archangels play a major role through scripture and in our world today.
I always turn to my Guardian Angel. He is your God assigned guide and protector. But, I always make a point to turn to St. Michael in difficult times as well. “St. Michael send angels to help my Guardian in this time…” I have St. Michael as my confirmation patron, so I know he is always close at hand.
God has given His Angels that we might have defenders and guides. They are all around us every day. St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael are very active. In these days, I believe the General of the Angel Armies of God is very busy.
St. Michael plays a major role in the end times. The Prayer of St. Michael and it’s creation should be proof of that. Pope Leo XIII had a vision of demonic spirits, who were gathering on the Eternal City (Rome). From that experience comes the prayer which he wanted the whole Church to recite.
Whatever happened during Pope Leo’s vision, it appears certain that he did have a vision and what he saw was not pleasant. It prompted him to quickly compose the Prayer to St. Michael, and to request its use at the end of Masses. The pope lived during particularly turbulent times, and he believed prayer was needed to dispel the darkness that hung over the world.
Every day the enemy looks for ways to drag us down and turn our hearts, even for a moment from God. Every victory he has in our lives makes us more susceptible to falling into grace sin. St. Michael the Archangel has always been known to be a powerful intercessor against evil, especially since he is recorded in the Book of Revelation as, “fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven” (Revelation 12:7-9).
We live in disturbingly turbulent times, many prophets say these are the end days. Look at the news, world Governments, the almost idolized love of abortion – the sacrifice of the innocents by Satan’s minions. Now is the time to be praying this powerful prayer often. Pray it at the end of every Mass. Call upon St. Michael every morning as a blessing of protection upon your spouse and children, parents and siblings, family and friends. Call upon his mighty defense throughout the day to protect the church and thwart the schemes of devil.
I also highly recommend praying the Chaplet of St. Michael. This is an incredible prayer invoking the aid of St. Michael and all the Choirs of Angel. See Chaplet at EWTN on the link below the Prayer of St. Michael.
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Thank you for this beautiful reflection on the archangels and especially St. Michael. Ten years ago today my mother was in her last hours of life on earth. She passed to eternal life right at midnight Sept. 30th and I always felt that the archangels left with her at the end of their feast day.
That is so beautiful in such a dark time. To know the Archangels were present gives such peace. Tomorrow I have a post of praise of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy that gave me peace from St Michael and the Blessed Mother
