All the wildfires throughout the world, start with a spark.
This is the same for faith. The fire of faith begins with a simple spark. Jesus left you to be that spark.
I heard a story of Billy Graham. He conducted a ‘revival’ in Dallas stadium in the early 70s (I believe). At this event, they turned all the lights in the stadium off. All Rev. Graham lit a single candle. From that candle other candles were lit and others from those. Until, throughout the stadium, thousands of candles burned. The darkness was pierced from the light of a single small flame.
Many today feel overcome by despair. Many Catholics look around and wonder, “what can I do against this culture?”
I’ll tell you what you can do. Be the spark, the single candle burning i the darkness. Let others see your flame, even if you feel it is too small to make a difference. Keep your hope I’m Jesus, even the smallest spark can ignite a huge blaze that engulfs the world. The world and the enemy will make every effort to put that fire out before it spreads. They want to contain it and quench it before it is seen or cause ‘too much damage’ to the forest around it.
It’s simple but it’s not easy.
Have the courage to stand up in the face of the tyranny of Satan, with full trust in Jesus. Saying, “I (we) will not go quietly into the night. We will notvanish without a fight. We’re going to fight on. We’re going to thrive.”
Your faith and trust will ignite a blaze. Be the spark that starts it and burn it all down! Engulf the kingdom of Satan through faith, hope and love.
I am too small to make a difference. That is a lie of the enemy to get you to sit back and do nothing. In the big world, you may be just one person, but, to one person who sees your faith, hope and love, your fire, you are the whole world. Live your faith through hope and love, let the sparks of that faith fly all around you. Don’t worry about where they fall or if they find kindling to ignite, that is for God. Your task and joy is to just spark!
