Spending Time with Jesus

Spread the love

“Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.” Luke 10:38-39

Spending time just listen to Jesus…just sitting in His presence is so critical to a spirit’s growth and peace.

When I sit in the presence of the Lord, just sitting here thinking of Him, I think of Him much more and deeply. The more time I spend with Him, the more I see Him and want to just be with Jesus.

It is in these times that I rest most. It is in these times, times of silence at His knee that I feel my spirit grow most.

Resting at His feet, Bible on my lap, I feel God speaking most clearly to me. My friends who know me best will all tell you that I am a talker. It doesn’t hurt my feelings that they’d say this. It is true, I know at times that my faith overwhelms me to the point that I can’t shut up. No one believes how much am introvert I am, was..before I met Jesus.

But, when I sit at His knee, I ‘hear’ Him speaking. And, I find myself peacefully calm. He fills me…. I don’t know how to finish that statement but that He fills me. I find myself sitting on a single sentence in that Bible on my knee. Sometimes, not even reading, Jesus shares much.

Do you ever just sit at the feet of Jesus? Focus at times on what He is saying in the Bible, in your prayer. But, let yourself at times just sit. Just sit in His presence, speaking nothing, asking nothing, seeking nothing – just shhh. Go now…find a quiet spot, kneel at the feet of Jesus and just be there…. Just be…

“But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke:10:41-42
