The end of the age fast approaches. We have had dear friends, strong prophets, warn us of the coming darkness. We have seen proof of the tracking and marking of people, including God’s own. We have been warned to hunker down. But, God calls us to be sojourners.
“As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.” Matthew 10:7
A sojourner is a person who lives as a foreigner temporarily in a place that is not his permanent home.
Connie and I travel to share the greatness of God with all we encounter. We offer prayers like dew drops across the country.
In many ways, our sojourner lifestyle has made us hermits on the go. We are ‘hunkered’ in our new RV, ‘Faith’, as we travel. It is just Connie, me and the Trinity. We have found much peace and solace in our Solitude (RV model). In this solitude, we have found a deeper relationship with the Trinity. He has used this as a way to center our lives on God, without distraction.
We find ‘friends’ along the way and strangers we bump into. We share the good news of Jesus when we can. I share my thoughts and reflections on the Road of Faith, many of them developed in the quiet of a long drive.
We all need to find solitude in order to let go of the things attached to us, to which we’re attached. We need to find quiet to find God. He isn’t hiding but if we are distracted, we will miss Him right before our eyes.
But, we can never lose sight that we are called to be apostles. I was called by Jesus and invited by my patroness, St Faustina, to be an apostle of Divine Mercy – I can’t help but share the story of Mercy to those I meet.
An apostle, in its literal sense, is an emissary, literally “one who is sent off”, from the verb “to send off”. The purpose of such sending off is to convey a message, and thus “messenger” is a common alternative translation; other common translations include “ambassador” and “envoy”.
We are all Sojourners and Apostles as we walk the Road of Faith. We are foreigners walking on earth traveling home to God’s mansion rooms, telling everyone of Divine Mercy and God’s love so they follow us home.
As sojourners for Christ, we are all apostles. We are all messengers of the Lord. As such, we are all His ambassador on earth.
