Meditate on the lyrics of this beautiful song by Praise Nation PGH. “Song to our Father” is a great reflection on the deep love God the Father has for each one of us.
Yes, Jesus told us in John 3:16 that the Father sent His Son because He loves the whole world. But, God the Father loves you enough to do it all again. Jesus loves YOU enough to die just for you.
And, Jesus lifts us up in His loving arms to the arms of His Father, our Father that His mercy and love may claim our life and soul.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
In the depths of my darkest moments and even within the pit of my worst sins, Jesus descended from Heaven to forgive me. I am overwhelmed that despite my sinfulness, Jesus came and died for me. Maybe not despite of my sinfulness but, for my sinfulness.
In each of my darkest moments, the Father was there to lift me up with His Mercy and love. Beside my dad’s casket and that dark night beside my daughter in the ICU, He heard my cry and answered. His Love came through to me at my dad’s funeral and His Divine Mercy in the ICU.
“But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” John 1:12
Jesus didn’t come to judge my sins, the Father didn’t send His Son as judge and jury to convict me – something I rightly deserved. No, God the Father sent Jesus to lift me up by His Holy Cross that I may know I am His child and be gathered in His arms.
“When I cry, You hear me. You answer me with mercy.”
Lift me up, Father. I am Your child again.
“My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of my goodness? For you I descended from heaven to earth; for you I allowed myself to be nailed to the cross; for you I let my Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Your misery has disappeared in the depths of My mercy. Do not argue with Me about your wretchedness. You will give me pleasure if you hand over to me all your troubles and griefs. I shall heap upon you the treasures of My grace.” Divine Mercy in my soul # 1485
Thank you Ed.
