You will never be asked for more than your simple yes. The Blessed Mother, Mary, the most influential woman in history and the most important to the Son of God wasn’t asked for huge things. God asked her simply to say yes.
Everything God does in our life starts with a ‘yes’. Everything God does in our life is dependent upon a ‘yes’. I’ve said before and some may get upset by saying it again, we have power over God. As Omnipotent as God is, totally all powerful, we have power over God. We can hamstring God Almighty by saying ‘no’.
Don’t believe me that we can have power over El-Shaddai? “And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. And he was amazed at their unbelief.” Mark 6:5-6. St. Mark documents how the rejection, the simple ‘no’ of Nazareth kept Jesus from showing His power.
But, ‘yes’. That changes everything. With a small simple three letter word, we open the gates of Heaven and give consent to God to work miracles in our life. We give God the power in our ‘yes’ to work miracles through us.
The Blessed Mother Mary is a great pillar of our faith. The virgin mother of God. Conceived with the singular mission to give birth to Jesus, raise Him, and walk along side of Jesus to the cross. She was given the huge mission of being the mother of all the faithful. This seems huge and God gave her the tools through her Immaculate Conception to handle it all. But, the Trinity didn’t force it upon her. God, Himself, made all Mary did dependent on her ‘yes’ – her fiat. That fiat given changed all history forever.
Imagine what God could do when you say ‘yes’?
I won’t go into all the ways God has worked through my life. Suffice to say, He has forever changed this man’s personality, attitude, outlook and destiny. God has done incredible things that I would once have said were impossible. God has allowed this complete introvert to speak words that have changed other people’s destiny. All the impossibly difficult and overwhelming things I look back that God has called me to are done simply by saying ‘yes’.
It doesn’t take a lot of training or education or strength. It doesn’t take a golden tongue or supreme Bible knowledge. It doesn’t take great anything on a soul’s part to accomplish ‘Apostle’-level miraculous things.
It simply takes your ‘yes’.
Will you say ‘YES’ to the next thing God asks if you – even if it sounds impossible?
