Seek the Lamb

Spread the love

“Behold, the Lamb of God” John 1:29

“In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah,[a] the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host,[b]praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger.” Luke 3:8-16

Jesus spoke of how the Good Shepherd would leave His flock of ninety nine to seek the one. On this Christmas eve, we see how the shepherds left their flocks to seek the One Lamb. The King over all Kings.

This night, like the shepherds in the field, go out seek the Lamb. Seek the swaddled baby with your heart. Find Him and give Him the greatest of gifts. More than gold, frankincense or myrrh. Give Him this gift of your heart. This is the most treasured gift beyond all value to God.

Are you willing to leave your fields, your sheep? Willing to leave everything you hold of value to seek this child?

You are called no less than the shepherds from the field to witness this great glory. The angels come to you proclaiming the King, inviting you to seek Him. Make this the Christmas that you seek Him and give to Him your heart.

“For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
