Save Me, Lord

Spread the love

“Save me, O Lord, from my enemies; I have fled to you for refuge. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.
Let your good spirit lead me on a level path. For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserve my life. In your righteousness bring me out of trouble.” Psalm 143:9-11

Having just gone to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, this Psalm seems very appropriate.

Our greatest enemy is Satan and sin. Satan tricks us into sinning and sin kills our clarity of God’s love, and our relationship with Him. In the Sacrament, we flee to God for refuge. Despite any temptation or our sinful nature, He will protect us under His wings. Mercy is so great.

But, this Divine Mercy through the Sacrament, allows us to re-align our thoughts and actions. The enemy will instantly begin his attacks and whispers to draw us back to sin. As soon as cleansed in the blood of Jesus’ Mercy, we need to turn to Him for guidance. We need to look to God for guidance to learn how to stay on that level path. God will preserve us in times of trouble and temptation.

“In your steadfast love cut off my enemies, and destroy all my adversaries, for I am your servant.” Psalm 143:12

Surrender is key. This is where “Jesus, I trust in You” is so key. While sun cuts is off from God, Divine Mercy cuts us off from sin. Divine Mercy does not just forgive the sins, it destroys them and their attraction to us. But, to keep that attraction at bay, we must surrender to God. Surrender and flow into the river of His mercy.
