Sanctification Through the Daily

Spread the love

“O life so dull and monotonous, how many treasures you contain! When I look at everything with the eyes of faith, no two hours are alike, and the dullness and monotony disappear. The grace which is given me in this hour will not be repeated in the next… Time goes on, never to return again” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 62

You might be wondering, “there’s got to be more to life than fighting traffic, being frustrated at work, getting home and making dinner, cutting the lawn, helping the kids do homework, paying the bills, struggles with spouse and kids, then going to bed just to get up and repeat it all again.” Actually…this is exactly how we are sanctified. Faithfulness to our duties, no matter how stressful or mundane they may be, remaining faithful to those who depend upon us and working together through challenges bring us many, many graces.

Persevering through struggles in times we feel we don’t have the skill or ability. Pressing through, maybe carrying our friends or loved ones when needed, or allowing them to carry us in humility.

Ask St. Joseph how much the daily work matters.

Don’t get caught up in the stress or fears. Pray. Trust in Jesus in every aspect of every moment of every day. Letting fear or stress into the moment allows the devil to step between us and God. It is way too easy to let one thing pile onto another until you feel like Atlas carrying the whole weight of the world upon your shoulders. Straw upon straw we carry ourself allows the whirlwind to overwhelm us. Before long, God is gone from our day.

“I will not allow myself to be so absorbed in the whirlwind of work as to forget about God.” Divine Mercy in My Soul # 82
