Reaching Holiness

I will tell you most when you converse with Me in the depths of your heart. Here, no one can disturb My actions. Here, I rest as in a garden enclosed” Divine Mercy in my soul # 581

How does one learn and begin to live within the Divine Will of the Father?

Prayer! A soul must follow the example of Jesus, going off to quiet places to pray and listen to what the Father has to say.

Jesus prayed in thanks after great victories, He prayed when overcome with sorrow, He prayed for guidance and He prayed for strength.

“But he withdrew to the wilderness and prayed.” Luke 5:16

“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, He called His disciples to Him.and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated apostles” (Lk. 6:12-13).

After his cousin and messenger, John the Baptist was killed, Jesus went to find solace in prayer. “Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a lonely place apart.” Matthew 14:13

“And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39

The best, maybe the only true way to determine the Divine Will of God and align you heart, mind and soul with the Father’s Will is through prayer. In today’s world, noise and busyness surround us from every angle. This activity pushes us forward to action, actions that often are done in the moment without thought of God’s Will.

Many times we think we are too busy or things are happening too quickly to take time to pray. We have to decide and do, now. Jesus gives us a great example. Look at the pages of the Gospels. Jesus was very busy in the three years of His ministry. He barely had time to sit and rest between teaching, healing, and everything else He did. Don’t forget between all these documented events, Jesus was walking between towns. He was teaching hundreds of side lessons to the disciples. And, His clock was ever ticking towards the cross. He was never not busy. But, even in His time sensitive life, Jesus stepped away for what was arguably the most important part of what He did each day – and best lesson for us – prayer.

We need to take time as did Jesus to pray and align our desires, our hopes and our will with that of the Father. So when those moments come at us, we are ready to accomplish great things according to God’s Will. But, more importantly, we train our minds to seek God’s Divine Will in prayer before we act upon the moment or our desire. We teach our soul to rest in God’s Will for peace.

Stop before and after any meeting or event to pray. Before a decision, pray. At the beginning and end of each day, align yourself in prayer. Pray and listen to the Father. Given time and patience, the Father will speak to your heart and give your peace and guidance. Once you begin to settle into this Jesus inspired routine of prayer, you will find the joy and rest of our Lord in the presence of the Father.

“When you reflect upon what I tell you in the depths of your heart, you profit more than if you had read many books. Oh, if souls would only want to listen to My voice when I am speaking in the depths of their hearts, they would reach the peak of holiness in a short time” Divine Mercy in my soul # 584
