Quiet time of prayer

Spread the love

Normally, our days are filled with activity.  Families are often occupied with one event or another.  Chores and work can pile up and we may find, at the end of the day, that we have had little time to pray to God in solitude.

Now is a perfect time to build a treasured habit of solitude and prayer that we can carry back into our busy day when we exit this quarantine retreat. It’s always important to look for moments when we can be alone with God, giving Him our full attention.  But, we should also look for opportunities to pray, interiorly, in the midst of our busy lives.

“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) had always seemed unobtainable, something maybe for monks or cloistered nuns.  But, that’s not the case. We can build into our day a habit of quiet, interior prayer as well as action prayer. As I said previously, I set reminders on my phone to draw me into a moment of prayer and to reflect upon God – 3 o’clock prayer for instance.  But, we can pray through our actions as well. This is bringing prayer to life. Opening a door to let someone pass first, smiling and saying hi to another, and so many other means are available to honor God and send an action prayer to Him.

“When, tired from these talks and yearning for solitude and silence, I quietly slipped out into the garden in the evening so I could converse with God alone…during this time I was able to devote myself to interior prayer without shunning their company.”

We give all to God for His glory – we follow His News not the world’s – I’ve have a lot about this on my blog lately THEROADOFFAITH.net

The enemy is prowling and trying to use the worldly to have us lose hope – our hope is in the Lord.
