“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:11-13
When we take up the fight against demons, it is proper for us to equip ourselves with the weapons of the Spirit. We must show the demons that we will fight to the point of blood to destroy evil intentions and “every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
Understand though, that to the extent we resist the demons in this battle and answer them with a word, they will become more embittered against us. “Whenever I begin to speak, they wound me” Job 6:4. “I am peaceful. Whenever I spoke to them, they made war against me gratuitously” Psalm 119:7
We must not be shaken by them; we must resist them by relying on the power of our Lord and Savior. If we place our trust in Jesus and keep His commandments, we will destroy the strongholds of the demons.
In this battle we need the weapons of the Spirit which is true faith and the teaching, which is perfect, hard-won victories, humility, stillness of soul and unceasing prayer.
Rise up to sanctity.
“do not give the devil a chance to work on you.” Ephesians 4:27
Your mention of “hard-won victories” as a weapon against the devil is what I needed to hear today. It helps me understand why some victories are taking so long to accomplish. God is honing my weapons, praise the Lord!
